Safety at the Grice Marine Laboratory
Safety training at Grice Marine Lab is required for all personnel working in the laboratories or aquarium room. It must be scheduled with the laboratory manager prior to starting work at the lab. The training discusses how to practice science safely and highlights safety rules to remember. Some of the topics covered in the safety training include:

Practicing Science Safely
- Know what the risks are in your work area
- Read Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
- Assess and minimize the risks before you start or change a proceudre
- Always use the proper Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) based on the current procedure
- Follow prudent practices, like no eating or drinking in the lab
- Know what to do in case of an accident
- Emergency posters offer guidance and important phone numbers
